A subagent is a separate Claude Code session spawned by your main agent. The parent says go handle this task and spawns a child, the child runs the task, reports back, and exits. Each child runs independently, so three can work at the same time and the queue empties fast. The catch most teams miss: cap concurrency, use a shared queue, track state, and set timeouts.
